Measurement Guide
Custom Unit

Hair Preparation:
If you have existing hair, style your own hair as it would be under the wig, when its attached. In order to get the most accurate measurements, either braid your hair all back into flat cornrows along the scalp or braid the hair in a flat beehive, or wrap is back in a flat tight ponytail.

Hair Length styling guide

  • 2” or less: Gel Flat or under a wig cap
  • 3 – 6”: braided fine all back
  • 6” or more: braided in a circle beehive style to avoid bulging at the back.

Make sure to get your hair as flat as possible before taking measurements. This will eliminate bulges that distort head shape. Remember to press firmly against the scalp and measure from where your natural hair line should be or wherever you would like the lace hairline to be constructed from.

Lace Front Wigs - Swiss vs. French Lace

So you are considering purchasing a lace front wig, surprising there are a lot more options than you would have image. So now you’re faced with decisions such as what will be the material of your hair, will it be a front or full lace wig, what about the hair density and colour etc.
All lace front wigs are made up of three main components, which are the base, hair and accessories.

You will need to determine what type of base will suit your lifestyle and your skin as well. Questions you need to ask yourself include what is the climax where I live? What time of skin do I have? Do I workout often? Do I perspire a lot? – all of these will have to be taken into account when ordering your wig. Another main item to consider is how much time you can spend on maintaining your unit.

The base is the material on which the hair is set. Choose your base depending on your lifestyle. A lace base is the most popular choice in the market place right now, it is also the most invisible based. When you place a lace base on your scalp it merges very well with the skin and no one will have a clue that your wearing a wig.

There are three types of bases – Super fine Swiss Lace, Swiss Lace and French Lace
The Super fine Swiss lace is the thinnest in quality. It is also the most delicate base available. This is perfect for use in the front of your lace unit, as it is invisible and does not show to the naked eye. The downside to the super fine Swiss lace is its durability. It is easier to damage this unit and it won’t last as long.
Swiss lace is slightly thicker as com
pared to the Super Fine quality. This does not mean that it is visible. In fact this lace is also a good lace base for the front, as you cannot see it. It is also more durable in strength. A lot of people prefer to use French lace as a base. This is extremely durable and cannot be seen from the front as well. You can get this base in different colours, perfectly matched with the exact colour of your scalp and face. The available colours include peach, orange, tab, white, clear, brown and black.

You can choose any of the three suiting your convenience and lifestyle. Once you do, then you can decide on the next component which is the hair.

Lace Wig Cap Construction

When deciding to purchase a custom or stock lace front wig there are several different options you must decide on. The first one is normal the type of cap construction your lace wig will be made and/or build on. There are many different ways to have your lace wig cap made. Below we provide some examples of the available lace wig caps. Please keep in mind that the exact location of the seams will depend on the contours of your head & where support for a quality cap is needed. For custom orders, you can specify your preferred cap construction. On stock items please take notice on the type of cap construction, this is valuable question to ask when making your purchase.
UNDETECTABLE STRETCH IN MIDDLE
This cap construction is a great choice for one who prefers a little stretch but would like to be able to do a full perimeter application with adhesives. This is also the most undetectable method for stock items, while still providing the most accurate fit.

LACE FRONT WIG WITH ADJUSTABLE STRAP IN BACK
If you’re not interested in high ponytails or up do’s and using glues worries you. With an adjustable strap back there is no need to use lace wig adhesives around your nape. You can tighten and loosen your wig for the best fit. You may also have the cap constructed with some lace at your nape as well.

STRETCH FROM EAR TO EAR OVER TOP
One can maximize on stretch with this cap and still achieve an undetectable look. The stretch is hidden behind the ear.
FULL LACE WITH SEWED SEAMS
The most undetectable combination! The seams are sewn instead of using the poly strips.
THIN SKIN ON PERIMETER
The Thin skin option is an ideal one when it comes to durability and easier for application and clean ups. However, please note it is a lot more noticeable than a lace perimeter base perimeter. You can choose thin skin 1) on the full perimeter 2) on the back perimeter only 3) on the front perimeter only or 4) a full thin skin cap.

STRETCH EAR TABS
Sometimes you might need that stretch at the ear for added comfort. You can also order a stretch tab cap where the cap the ear to ear stretch but the stretch tab extends to a triangle.

Above are the most common types of cap construction, you will find slightly different variations or wording. At the end of the day they most likely will fall into one of the above headers. If you come across on that is not listed, please feel free to list it. Sharing information is the ideal method for mutual success.
